Paula Starkey, Dog Behaviourist

I work with many clients who are frustrated with their dog’s behaviour. They are often embarrassed by the behaviour and the traditional training methods just don’t seem to have worked for them.

I am a qualified Dog Behaviourist and I follow a holistic approach and so it really depends on the individual dog as to how I approach a case. I don’t believe in punishing a dog and firmly believe that positive reinforcement is the key and it does work!

My understanding of dogs, a calm and sympathetic approach, with an emphasis on positive reinforcement and reward-based dog training is enough to work with a dog and its behaviour.

I visit dogs and their owners at home and work with the owner to effectively communicate with their dog in a way he / she will understand and to find out why the behaviour is happening. I give you clear instructions and guidance on how to understand and communicate with your own dog, enabling you to work together until everything falls into place.

Whatever the problem, I can help you help your dog. No dog is a hopeless case and you can teach a dog new tricks. If you are experiencing such problems as Pulling on the Lead, Boisterous Behaviour, Jumping Up, Barking or Howling, Separation Anxiety, Destruction, Aggression, Toileting, general training or you just want to get a good start for your dog or puppy, then I can help you to get things on track.

Contact me to see how I can help you to build that rewarding relationship with your favourite friend. Whatever the problem, I can help.

How does it work?

I visit at your home and see you and your dog, assess the dog, watch their behaviour, look at the body language and what triggers the unwanted behaviour. As your dog lives in your home as part of your family, this is where they spend the majority of their time and misbehave most often. This makes your home the most effective place for my sessions to take place.

I then come up with a programme that is flexible but will benefit your dog, yourself and family members in the long run!

During the second visit, we recap and amend anything that needs tweaking. Following on from that I offer ongoing phone, text or email support …. I want this to work for you!

I do request a 50% deposit to complete any booking. This deposit is transferable to any appointment re-scheduled within 1 month of the original appointment and having given 48 hours notice.

Please do get in touch if you require any more information or wish to book an appointment.

Booking & Prices*

Based in Lichfield, but cover all surrounding areas, to include Staffordshire, West Midlands, Derbyshire and more!

* Prices dependant on location. I am willing to travel much further than listed above but please note that increased cost may apply to cover travel time and petrol if outside of the named travel zones. Please provide me with your postcode so I can provide an accurate cost.

These fees include travel within a 10 mile radius from Lichfield. For distances of 20 miles there is an additional charge of £10 and for distances of 30 miles the additional charge is £20.

I always recommend two sessions, two-three weeks apart.  This enables the owner time to put the training into practice and then assess/review and optimise the work we have covered. One session can be purchased as a standalone under specific circumstances, again please get in touch to determine what is required for your training needs.
